1980 Volvo GT - New to the scene 200 1980

Hi all -- I'm Eric... I just bought my 242 about 3 months ago in Houston off of Craigslist. I FINALLY HAVE A BRICK! MUAHAHAHA!

Anyway, I'm going to be building this on my own -- first REAL project car that I plan to use a street ride and autocrosser. My first step back to reviving this car is rebuilding the fuel system from the tank to the injectors -- hopefully then she'll start up!

Advice is gladly accepted.

the best tool you can get if your going to keep the car.

If the fuel system is completly shot or you want to simplify your setup. The Volvo Penta AQ-125 and AQ-140 marine intakes with a carb will work. The AQ-125 is a single 1bbl. solex carb and the AQ-140 has dual upright solexes. You will need to drill & tap out the intake for vacuum provisions. I picked up my setup on EBay for under $35

Be careful what you take apart in a k-jet system. Some of the parts are easy to damage and difficult to find. Use the search function on this board to the max and study eveything before you act. The system is reliable and long lasting but mechanically complex. The operating pressures are also higher than any other, around 70 psi out of the main pump and up to around 50 at the injectors. A good shop manual is a must. The website k-jet.org is helpful. Good econamical parts sources are also given on the brickboard. It will be a great daily driver. For autocrossing there are lowering springs, heavier sway bars, and poly bushings available. However, the car starts out with something of a disadvantage because of its' narrow track and high center of gavity.

Couldn't have said it better myself. K-Jet can be tricky and requires some special knowledge and instruments to keep in perfect shape.
