What model used Volvo to purchase?

I am looking for a 90-93 240, however seem to be having trouble locating a good used one in my area.

What would be the next reliable choices? Looking to spend less then $3K.

Someone advised any 4 cylinder 740/940 or 99/00 850/S70

What say you?

    Spend a bit more money now and get a good 240. The extra you spend for a good 240 will pale in comparison to the money you will spend on aspirin should you get a different Volvo. (I know, my mom has an 850 that I am solely responsible for keeping on the road!!)

      My first choice is a 240, however they are like hen's teeth around here, hard to find! Been looking for several months.
