Brakes are acting funny 200

My brakes were acting normal 90 percent of the time for awhile. Sometimes they were hard to depress and would not stop that good. I bleed the brakes and it does this 100% of the time now. I re bleed them to see if there was air in the system, and there wasn't. They are very hard to press and offer little stopping power, whats up? I think it might be the mc. I need help soon I am moving.

Have you pulled out the Pads and tried compressing the Pistons? I'm thinking you might have a frozen Caliper Piston.

Im having the same problem with the brakes slowing down the car but when you stand on the brakes as in a emergency stop I get a hard peddle but not locking up the brakes. When I sit and idle and depress the brake peddle there is a sound of air comming from the brake booster. Should you hear that woshing sound? Or should you hear nothing when depressing the brake peddle. Charlie 85 240 ti

You should hear no whooshing sound. As Goatman indicated, check your lines for tightness and cracking, and then it is probably time for a new mc.Don't forget to look at your check valve at the booster as well.

    Hello,

Check the vacuum line to the brake booster. If the vacuum line is intact, then you need to replace the brake booster.

Or you could have glazed pads. You need to inspect the brake components.

          Bret,

I'm not sure I'd agree on glazed pads, but if the calipers are leaking and the pads are soaked with brake fluid, I would definitely agree with you! Excellent point, inspect the pads!

When I speak of a glazed pad I am refering the the lining material being overheated to the point that the coefficiency of friction is altered. The pad becomes to slick and requires more pedal effort to apply the brtakes.

The pads are good the calipers are not leaking That is the first thing I checked. Oil contaminated pads will not stop then they will grab all the sudden.
