OK to use HIF4 to engine testing? 120-130

Hi guys - quick question. Does anyone know I a set if HIF4 SU will fit a
stock HS6 manifold. I haven't rebuilt my HS6 yet but have a pair of HIF4 I
rebuilt sitting on the shelf and I'm getting itchy to see how the engine
runs...

What do you think?

Four bolts to put them on? Hell yea, I'd do it. Linkages might not match up, and you won't really get a good idea of how she runs, but... you'll get it to run. Heck, if you're not into hot rodding, it might be economical from a fuel usage standpoint. Be an interesting experiment...

Just curious, what did the HIF4 carbs come off of?

HIF6 was used from the factory on B20 engines.

If they are actually HIF6 carbs, use them. They're great!
HIF6 carbs have the same mounting bolt pattern as a HS6.
Not the same air filter mounting though.

Never saw a HIF4. Especially on a Volvo.

Hi there. They came off a friends MGB. I bought them for my BGT, rebuilt them, and then promptly sold the car....sigh.

So much for putting them to use, or in other words, you still won't have seen a pair on a Volvo (even for testing).

Thanks!

HIF4 are common on the later MGB 1800 engines. The diagonal two bolt pattern will fit the square four bolt pattern of the HIF and HS 6, but there will be little clamping on the gasket.

OK, OK.

As some anonymous but well informed individual once said, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." By the way, if you don't have the tools, talent and desire to rebuild your 6s, Rhys does an absolutely first rate job.
