Alignment questions... 900

I recently bought a new set of tires from Costco and was told I ought to have an alignment done on my 1995 940. In driving it, it never seems to pull to either side.

I'm curious about a couple things:

1) I assume that it's important to have any bushing work done before getting the alignment done and not afterwards.

2) Can the car still require alignment even if it drives straight when I take my hands off the steering wheel?

3) How critical is it to have an alignment done if it seems to run straight as it is?

Thanks for any input...

A bad alignment could affect handling when you need it most. Question to you, did you have premature wear on your old tires other than possibly under inflation wear? Proper tracking means your (negative) toe in is good and that is all that most shops will do.

    1) It is better but not always necessary.

    2) No, it may not need alignment.

    3) Probably not critical.

If your happy with the way the car tracks you are probably ok. For me, it seem like driving on snow and a lesser extent rain, accentuates a bad alignment and I don't do much of that in NC.

Thanks for the information. Much appreciated.

I really don't think the tire tread was wearing that badly off... so I'll keep track of how things develop.
