And she keeps on rolling. I'll need to take a weekend and do some cleanup work, see to a few bushings, and a bit of rust prevention, but, knock on wood, all is well.

Congrats, Zach. 275K is comparable to going to the moon and headed back to Earth at 25K out from the moon. You're doing something right.

275k today - this is awesome, ultimate green car 200

This is the ultimate green car because it did not need to be replaced at least once (assuming many cars only last 125,000 miles or so), thereby saving the environmental cost of mining, smelting, casting, machining, painting, transport across the ocean, etc. I admire you ultra-high mile owners because I know how much fiddling you need to do and how much patience you have. I have a friend here in town who drives Studebakers....

OMG. Is that a... working fuel gauge?

Always wondered what that looked like!

Guess I need to replace the sender, but filling up every 300mi works too.

Congratulations. Say "hi" to Girdwood every once in a while for me.

We'll say hi as we drive by today on our way to the Kenai to dipnet.

We did wave hi, and you must've been there in spirit, as there was a light blue pre-86 245 fueling at the gas station right on the corner of the highway junction at 12:30am when we were driving back.

Congratulations!

You have obviously done well when it comes to taking care of your brick! Back in 2002, our 89 244 was destroyed in an accident at exactly 99,000.1 miles we were the original owners. I'm pleased to say that old engine is still cranking in a 90 244 that we no longer own but just passed 200K. Our 92 245 just jumped the 290K mile barrier, when she hits 300K miles this fall, she'll get a treat of a new top side paint job... the clear coat is finally giving up.

Pat yourself on the back, you deserve it, especially in AK!

Nice going, Zach.

You mention rust prevention. Do they put the salt down up there? Four years now for you, if I recall.

Four years in AK - your memory is impeccable. They don't use salt up here, but this car was originally from the east coast, and more recently Iowa, where they most certainly have used salt, at least until recently. A bit of remedial rust prevention, if you will. ;)
