Thankyou Aleekat, i would have never found that lever without your help and i am now sitting in the car rather than on top of it. another question if i may, the car feels like its wallowing along. i think the front shocks are history and would replacing them with gas ones be the fix or is there an upgrade of sorts or do you think there is another common issue i need to know about. Thanks again

Looks like you are new to this board. Upper right hand corner, "select shortcut" scroll down to "700/900FAQs". A wealth of info covering lots of items. Lots of you questions/answers can be found there.

Its located front left corner. You pull it towards the door to release the seat.
Bend down and take a look.

On my '92 745, the lever is between the seat and the console. When I first tried to adjust the seat, even following the handbook instructions, I wasn't sure exactly what was happening. By removing the storage bin/trim on the outside of the seat, you can see the mechanism and exactly what's going on and where you are.
