Why do these Sachs Advantage Shocks have Booties? 200

I just got a pair of Sachs Advantage rear shocks from FCP and I'm surprised to find they have accordian boots on one end, rather than a metal cylinder. At first I though I accidentally got struts. They don't look like the shocks pictured on FCP or iPD. But they're labeled right. Anyone else seen this?

I order a pair a few months ago. One has a metal sleeve and the other has a rubber accordion boot. Boge/Sachs made them both ways. IPD says that should not be a problem. They try to match them up but sometimes they get mixed up. Anyway they're installed and no problems.

Wow, I also bought a set of the sachs advantage shocks, one had the accordian boot, the other the sleeve. The box had been opened (never a good sign) on the one with the sleeve. My guess is when someone calls and complains (like I am going to do) they snag one off another shock, replacing it with a sleeve. Then the cycle begins over again. I want the accordiam one for much better seal protection.

At first glance, I thought that said boobies. I probably shouldn't admit that.

Ha!

OK, so I'm not crazy. I'm looking forward to swapping out my KYB Gas Adjust and seeing if I get a slightly tighter ride.

The last set I got was that way also, probably cheaper than metal.

I think it's just another way to help keep dirt out of the seal.
