Is there a series that only works for certain years of 240's? Are they Model specific? What do you look for to make sure it'll work for your volvo, what do you need to know? I plan on going to a junk yard to find a replacement ECU for my 91 240 and don't wanna get stuck with one that's no good for my car.

    To be safe just get one with the same model number as yours.

      Any non turbo 89 and on four cylinder ecu will be compatible. The engines in the naturally aspirated B230f made after 89 will run on the fuel injection program LH 2.4. These Volvo's are badged 940, 740 & 240. If u were to venture to the junkyard look for the newest model's being the 940's and then the others. The late model 1995 940's have a desirable ecu.         hello
        i dont believe the lh 3.1 ecu will interchange with the models you listed.
        but the rest should be fine.
