How to apply Heat Sink to power stage / ignition amplifier

My 91 240 stalls in hot weather and I have read that it may be the
power stage / ignition amplifier needing HEAT SINK COMPOUND.

While at the salvage yard I pulled a power stage / ignition amplifier
and while removing the back metal plate the 'computer' chip pulled off
with the metal plate. There was clear paste/gel surrounding the
'computer chip'.

How do I apply Heat Sink Compound on/in my power stage / ignition amplifier
without pulling off the 'computer chip'?

Thanks,
Joseph

hello
the black thing (ignition amplifier) screws to the heat sink with two screws.
put the heat sink compound in between the black thing and the heat sink (metal plate)
radio shack sells the heat sink compound.
you may need a ignition amplifier. or you may have another issue but i would try the ignition amplifier.
good luck
Mike
