Air Filter Box 140-160

I was reading a recent air filter post. My filters are due to be changed and I'm considering choices. I have a 1968 144s with the B18. It has the 3 bolt round air filters. Wondering if it would be possible to fit an air cleaner box to my car? If so what should I be looking for and availability.

Craig

I'm looking at a custom air box made by TWM in CA for my twin Mikunis. $299 in fibreglass with a 3" inlet for fitting ducting or a K & N cone.

    FYI only...haven't bought one yet...

There is a late model SU filter box. I do not know if it ever came to the USA. Perhaps Canada?

Would a factory box off a later 140 series fit?

Yes, that's what I use on my 67 144, just like the picture in the post above. Might need a bit of modification of mounting holes. Definitely quieter, not sure why it would be slower but I will defer to B20Paul's experience there. Don't have to run the whole snout (might be restrictive?), and you can bring in cold air with some simple plumbing.
