17 inch steel wheels available for 240s? 200

Hi,

I am floundering through wheel upgrade hell because my 240 has 14 inch wheels and the handling just isn't up to snuff. I look at all the Volvo cast wheels and I'm not feeling it... the biggest diameter you can get would appear to be 16 inch, and I'd like to run 17's. No aftermarket available.

Is there a steel wheel available with the right offset and bolt pattern? I am not worried about appearance, just function.

thanks...

IPD sells some 17" wheels for $148.00 ea, with the correct bolt pattern and offset. I've got a set of 17" Eikers on one of my wagons, shod with 215/45-17s, and I've had no rubbing issues, and that is with a set of sport springs. The ride is not what one would call luxurious, but I knew that before I did the swap. So, there is another possible answer to your problem. Hope this helps.

You have two options that I know of:
    1) Custom wheels. This is actually one of the cheaper options, you can probably buy a set of custom steelies for a little over $100 a wheel.

    2) Buy a set of 17" steelies for whatever you want, then buy a set of adapters. Adapters will run about $300 in addition to the cost of the wheels.

Have you checked what people have said on Turbobricks? I seem to recall hearing of a lot of pain and trouble trying to fit 17"s on a 240.

Good point! I've heard about the 17" troubles, too. Probably from reading over at TurboBricks. :-)

17" is a little too "hot" for me on a 240... I'd personally limit myself to 16", so it'd be Hydra's (or FWD Volvo rims with spacers) and some good solid performance tires.

17 inch steel wheels available for 240s? Probably are too much... 200

I finished installing the Turbo antisways on the 240 this morning I got on eBay... the car is much nicer, and now I'm thinking 17's would be too much. So I'll be looking for 16's, or maybe even 15's and upgrade to stiffer springs... I just can't handle the spoogey Buick-like feel the 14's impart...

        cheers!

IIRC, you can buy 15" steelies from a 740 brand new from Tasca for like $60 ea.

You can buy 16" steelies from a recent FWD car for about the same, but you'd need spacers too.

IPD has a set of 17's for not too much cash.
