85 240 wagon shakes 52-60mph. Inside tread of front driver side tire is worn. Alignment already done and tires rotated. Any ideas?

I'm surprised that your alignment shop would align the car with a bad tire on the front. Alignment shops will usually turn away cars with worn tires. The reason is that aligning a car with worn tires won't make the car drive any better. Then the customer complains that the shop didn't do a good job, and they get negative word-of-mouth advertising. Put some decent tires on the car, make sure they are properly balanced, and then go back to the alignment shop and have them re-check the alignment.

Other possible causes are worn suspension bushings, or bent control arms, worn steering rack, loose tie rod ends, worn ball joints, or bad wheel bearings.

Switch the back tires to the front and see if the problem goes away.

Alignment doesn't cause shakes (until the tire is worn funny from a bad alignment) Wheel balance is the normal culprit as is a bent wheel or a defective tire. Beyond that, worn front end parts can cause it (again after the worn parts cause damage to the tire).

Did you get the wheels balanced?

And if a balance doesn't work ... get rid of the worn tire .... the other thing you might look at is a "Road Force "balance job ... made a world of difference on Old Reliable ....
