With my engine approaching 300k, I'm curious how much oil other high mileage engines use? Please tell us the mileage too.
My engine uses about about 1 qt every 3500 miles. It does have 2 minor oil leaks so if those were fixed its consumption would be less....

Just turned 412K miles yesterday and at 2500 mile interval oil changes I don't use a drop of oil.

I'm at 262K in Dallas, Texas.
I use 10W30 in the Winter and lose about 1/4 of a quart during my 3,500 mile oil change interval.
I use 15W40 in the Spring, Summer & Fall, and lose about 1/8 of a quart during my 3,500 mile oil change interval.
There is a little puff of blue/black smoke from the tailpipe in the morning. The spark plugs are clean when I pull them every 25,000 miles.

Son's 81 has about 325k mi and uses about a litre every 3500mi. Cyl head got new intake valve and cam seals about 40k mi ago...short block untouched, no leaks worth mentioning. It gets a Mobil-1 oil change when the 2nd litre top-up is needed (7-8000mi).

Most impressive! Sounds like you should make 500k miles or 800k Km without an overhaul.

1988 244: doesn't seem to burn any oil, but I have a leak that forces me to add just under a liter in 5000 km.

We had a 90 244 with 136K but it was very badly abused by the PO. It used a quart per 1000 miles and there was visible blue smoke in the exhaust. Turns out that the cylinders were so worn out it needed bored out 0.024" ie. double over pistons, single over pistons at 0.012" didn't get rid of the ring grooves left in the cylinder.

My '91 245 with 285k doesn't use any oil, leak or burn. Engine has never been opened. I have had the car for almost 100k mi and have yet to do a front or rear seal, only vc gasket.

No leaks.. maybe 1/2 quart per 3000 miles, that's my oil change interval

Both my car ('84 245, 295k) and my wife's ('82 242, 302k) use about a quart/2500 miles. Both leak, so I don't think there's much burning going on.
A couple years back on a 5300 mile trip in my wagon, I added one quart after about 3000 miles, and it was a tad under a quart low when we got home.
