J-type overdrive identification

Hi,

I have an M46, J-type, Laycock overdrive that doesn't allow, by design, the installation of a speedometer-driving 'gear' on it.

What model and year of Volvo might this overdrive be from?

Thanks in advance.

1986 or newer.

If it is to be a replacement for an earlier OD, parts can be swapped from the old that will allow it to be used.

For me, just a gasket and some effort :>)

I have been told that the back-covers can be swapped.

Thanks for your reply.

Not just the back covers.

The drive gear on the OD output shaft must be exchanged for the spacer on the newer OD. Keep the gear orientation from one to the other or you will end up pulling the od again to change the gear.

VEry easy to mix up.

Duane
