need a windshield... 200

hey all,

I need to replace the windshield on my 92 240 wagon. my question is i think i have to choices to repair it. the first is to have a local autoglass company here in VT do it for $215.00 or....seen a craigslist ad for a used windshied for 140/240 series for 50$. I'm a pretty good tool, but i've never done windshield installs before. I am also assuming i may have to get a new seal for it too. would it be worth trying to do it on my own? or will i end up only saving 50-75 bucks after all is said and done?

I have done Much in teh way of mechanics.

I have watched several windshields get put in. I think the '92 has the Gasket Over the earlier Chrome on the windshield and goop it on.
It's not a mechanically difficult job but I let the pros do it.
They have the tools and the knack

Having never done the job myself I can't comment on the DIY end of it, but I look at it this way: Unless this car is bound for the junkheap soon or you can't afford to put much into it, spring for the new one. A used one is likely to be covered in tiny pits and/or overspray, causing it to light up to near opaque when the sun hits it. New glass will be nice and clear.

I *almost* wish a rock would take out the windshield in my 240 or 850. Then I'd have a better reason to replace the old pitted glass.

    Regards,
    Will
