I can't find a drive belt tensioner 200 1984

I just got an '84 244 GL and its got some power issues.
i think it might be due to the fact that its missing an alternator belt and the other is badly warn. i have been able to find the tensioner for all but the front horizontal belt.
where is it?

    I can't find a drive belt tensioner 200 1984

Just like an old VW beetle generator the Volvo has a split crankshaft pulley with shims inside, extras stored outside. Look at your pulley and you'll see six 10mm nuts holding the pulley halves together. Getting the right tension is a bit of trial and error. You'll need to remove shims from the middle to make the belt run higher. You must rotate the motor as you tighten the nuts so the pulley closes evenly and doesn't pinch the belt. -- Dave

I run one shim between the pulley halves. Makes the belt ride about where it does on a standard pulley.
