please help me find the part number and name 900 1996

I got a 96 960 with bad parking brake. I looked under the rear of the car and saw the matel piece linking the right (short) and left parking brake cable is completely rusted out. What's the name of this piece and part number, maybe? Thanks a lot. Erwin

Erwin, if your Volvo has a solid rear axle, this might be the part you are looking for:
This is a repair kit for the commonly rusted out part holding the two cables.

Dear Erwin,

May this find You well. According to Volvo VADIS - the parts and maintenance program, now replaced by an on-line system - the part you seek is supplied with the parking brake cable. That is, the link is not available separately.

There are two part numbers for the parking brake cable:
For Chassis up to -54468 (4-door) and -20145 (5-door) use part #6819031. Later units should use part #9140979.

This cable costs about $60. Check with your Volvo dealer, to be sure these part numbers are still valid. It is also possible, that Volvo now supplies the link as a separate part, so you might want to ask about that.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook

Spook, thanks for the information. I'll call my local dealer to check the PN. Erwin
