Hi All
Had a strange and disconcerting issue this weekend with my 92 940NA. AW71L.
198,xxx miles. Very well maintained tranny with reciepts of numerous drain and fills and even a flush at 170,000. Was driving Saturday with 200lbs of lawn care products and 4 tires in the trunk. Car was good and warmed up. Put it in reverse and it did nothing for a second then kinda slammed into gear. Felt like it was low on fluid. It wasnt. It did it a couple more times that afternoon. I unloaded the car and the next morning reverse was fine. I have not had a chance to inspect the tranny mount but will tonite. Fluid looks mediocre, not the nice pink I like but not burned chocolate either. I will be flushing next weekend. Could the load in the rear helped exagerate a failing tranny mount or is this a bad sign for the lifespan of my Tranny?
Matt
PS The kickdown cable is adjusted so that the tranny shifts very smooth between gears. I had even considered tightening it a little out of fear that such a smooth shift must place additional wear on the clutch packs. Could the kickdown cable be an issue also? I have poured ATF down the sheath a year ago to keep it from binding.
