Everything is fine, but that CHECK ENGINE is killing me :) Is this a dealer thing only?
The car is 1997 S90.

you should be able to stop by any major auto parts house like autozone,partamerica or advanceautoparts and they should be able to download the codes and reset the CEL for you,most of them do not charge for this service

The car can not be driven on public road yet. It was parked for 2 years, and has no current inspection stickers.
Any chance that this light will go away, after a few start/stop cycles?

leave the battery unplugged overnight. If the CEL comes on again, something is throwing the code (probably a senosr you forgot to hook up). If that's the case, call your local parts stores. I think Advance autoparts will let you borrow a code scanner(you will need to put down a huge friggin' deposit with your credit card). Take it home, read the codes, and fix the problem.

Thanks for a good idea. I rented a scanner and the code was transmission range error. The scanner has the option to cancel the code, and I did. Well, I'm not sure it is going to hold up for good, but no more that CHECK ENGINE light, after a few start/stop cycles. The next few days will tell, right?

Yeah, if there's a code to be thrown, it will do it on its own accord. For now, you can hopefully just chalk it up to the transplant creating the code.
