8 bolt crank 140-160

Hi all, is there a way to determine a 74 on b20e engine with an 8 bolt crank without taking the gearbox off and looking at the end of said crank ? Engine # perhaps ? Keeping my fingers crossed. David

that would be 21mm on 8 bolt crank :) I think but it will be metric as the 8 bolt crank rods and pistons got switched to metic but rest of block is still standard thread. Just built up a 8 bolt moor for my 73 142 I used later M rods cause they are much stronger than than the stock rods they are the weak point in the 8 bolt motors they bend real easy.

Amongst all the Volvo cars I have serviced over the years, I also had marine Volvo Penta customers. One had a 1974 AQ125 (eight bolt B20). He ran that engine at 4000 rpm, full load, for over 3000 hours in 17 years. I did one head gasket and valve grind. The engine only failed when the salt water perforated the head. Bottom end was just fine. No "bendy" rods that I could see. In fact I think the early rods being weak is a myth. Never seen them myself.
