Bleeding brakes - urgent! 700

Just replaced the LH front pads and rotor. 1992 740 wagon. Girling Single pot caliper.
I had the caliper off to clean up and lubricate the sliders.
Now trying to bleed. I lost a lot from the MC as I did not plug the line very well. Now I can't get any fluid through the brake bleed screw when pushing the pedal Tried it with and w/o motor running.
There is no ABS on this car, although the components are listed as "Girling, with ABS.
Should I be bleeding the MC, and how, or is there a proper order to bleed all 4 wheels?

Try loosening the lines a bit as they exit the MC, then pump. This will allow the MC to be purged also.

good luck

If you fill the resevoir and let it sit for a few minutes most of the air
should float up. If you pump the pedal it should get firm and stay up.

Then you can crack the blled screws and get some stuff (air/brake fluid)

If you have an Advance Auto near you, they will let you borrow a nice bleeder
kit (with a deposit) that places low pressure (maybe 15 lbs) on the resevoir
so you can pump it up then waltz down tto the bleed screw to expel air.

I replaced my M/C last spring with a "remanufactured" unit about 1/4 the cost of
new but the quality stinks, I had three of em that wouldn't bleed right on
deep strokes of the piston- ie: full strokes sucked air into the M/C
which must mean the deep part of the bore is NG.
the last one two weeks ago seemed fine so maybe those rebuilders figured out what they're doing?

It's easy to bench bleed, but I got two 24" brake lines and cut em in half
and used them with plastic tubing to bench bleed at the shop vise.
a pint of walmart Prestone DOT4 does it. Get extra if your calipers are
funky.

What shape are the flex lines to the calipers? They can get funky in their
old age.

I just visited the breakers, got a spare cap and drilled it for a tyre valve. Now I can use a bike pump to pressure bleed. Not tried it yet, but $4 is cheaper than $50

Bleeder 700

I did the same thing and have a cap ready , I'll find a cheap garden sprayer
that has some more volume. Maybe a gallon tank would be nice.
Be carefull not to run that pressure up too high.
