Brake System Problem 200

I have a 85 240ti (non ABS)I replaced all the brake hoses and found on the left side (rear brakes) the Pressure Regulator Valve where the brake hose attaches was parcelly clogged.I cleaned it out but when bleeding I had very little flow of fluid coming out the left side and right side there was no problem. Can the pressure regulator valve be taken apart to clean or do you have to replace it? Is this a Dealer item only? Thanks for any help. Charlie

    Brake System Problem 200

If you're referring to the Brake Regulator mounted along the inside of the sub-frame on the driver's side just below the brake booster... I've been able to clean it rather well by submerging it in hot water and Dawn Dish Soap for about 4-6 hours and giving it a slight vibration from an old stone polisher/tumbler canister.
I'm not aware of any quick cleaning techniques simply cuz it's near impossible to blast it with water/solvent. Once the O rings dislodge then it's time to go get another one.
Two options: Stealership OR FCP Groton/IPD
Junk Yard is a waste of time... most are leaking at the sensor portal.

Thanks Tim for the reply but the pressure regulator valve is mounted about a foot behind the fuel pump.Thats where the two brake hoses that go to the axle. Charlie

I think he is referring to the rear brakes pressure regulator mounted under the floorpan on the unibody frame rail ahead of the rear axle on the drivers side. Mine has a small leak, 1980 262c, and I need to either rebuild it or replace it and I have no idea where to buy a new one or how to rebuild the one I have. I could install an aftermarket racing type regulator, but would really not know what I was doing.

Thanks Butch,Thats what I hope can be done or I will have to locate a new one.I also will look for one at the pic&pull.Just will need to know what years and models (non-ABS) I can get from. I wonder if a aftermarket pressure regulator valve will work? Charlie
