Engine serial number location 1993 960? 900

I need to identify the engine serial number on my son's 93 model 960 so as to order the correct timing belt. Does anyone know where it's located on the engine?

Steve

HELP! The label is gone from the timing belt cover and I've looked everywhere I can on the engine. Surely someone knows where the serianl number is stamped on the block.

Thanks for the reply but that's not what I need. I know what type engine I have. I need to know the serial number of the specific engine in my vehicle to identify the correct belt as it's a "split year" which used different belts depending on the build date of the engine itself. Great link though and helpful otherwise.

Steve

Sorry, I misunderstood what you are looking for. I noticed that someone else answered in the other post. Good thing! Cause, I don't know. ;-)
