I've got both an '85 244 M46 w/209K and a '95 855 w/141K. I know we all here at the 240 site think very highly of our 240s and I agree that these machines deserve their reputation as "bricks".
But I gotta tell you, I'm more impressed with the way my 855 is holding up better at its age and mileage than my 244 at the same age and mileage. The 855 has had far fewer things go wrong with it, has no rust, is almost as easy for a DIYer to work on, and the interior is holding up so much better. I've created Excel repair/maintenance log sheets for both of them and the 244's has many more entries than the 855 does during their first 14 years.
I wouldn't be surprised if the 850 comes to be known as the Super Brick.
What do you think?
