buying air mass meter/sensors 200 1993

Hi all-

A parts question: Which is more sensible, buying an after-market (supposedly made-in-China under license from Bosch) for about $115 (with 24 month warrantee) or an OEM use one off ebay ($40 - $75).

    good luck either way.
    i have sold probably 50-60 and had one returned, but it worked fine.
    the guy bench tested it and it didnt fall within haynes manual specs so i took it back.
    i talked to the smarter electronic people on the board and found this is no way to test a AMM. i put it in my car and its been fine for a couple months now.
    i normally dont use this site to sell parts unless someone is looking.

      Looks like the general consensus is go with OEM used/rebuilt or new. I had a feeling that might be the general opinion. Thanks all for your thoughts-

    I got a rebuilt Bosch unit for my 91 from Autozone for $131. works like new. didnt even have to adjust the idle CO.

    If the e-bayer lists it as "KNOWN GOOD" I'd probably try that.

    I have sold 561 computers on e-bay after driving with them in my car to assure they work. Maybe because I'm honest...I am trusting of others.

    most guys on the board are going to recommend the same thing i am getting ready to tell you ==> go with the used oem from ebay, your local pick and pull, or from someone on this site.

    the aftermarket versions, IMO, are worthless.

    i could wax all day on cheap a$$ aftermarket parts made for our beloved volvos... my three day (return & replace & return & replace & test everything in the world & replace) drama with an aftermarket alternator being one.

    plus, i have bought many aftermarket parts for my ride & have found quality to be seriously lacking.

    in this case, with an amm, go with oem -used is better than reman.

    a new used bosch unit is going to be trouble free.

    while you got the amm out... change the air filter, remove & clean the box, replace or remove the air box thermostat (controls the flap door... if you remove it remove the door), check/clean the air intake tube (accordian like tube going to throt. body), remove & clean the throttle body.

    all easy to do in a couple of hours with basic hand tools.

    2 cents.
