122/1800 Factory AC 120-130

I ended up with a factory AC set up for the 1800. I have looked about in the old accessory catalogs to see if it was the same one for a 122 but can't find any info on it. Does anyone know if they were the same after purchase (but still Volvo) unit for the 122 as the 1800?

I have issues posting picts here so I whipped up a snapfish page with photos. Please see: http://www3.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=262735723/a=15909148_15909148/t_=15909148

Any comments or other info is welcome.

Thanks!

I just removed the one from my 122, and it is archaic at best. They were "hang on" units, not installed at the factory. Mine is sitting on the floor if you want to compare, but that looks like the piece I have. The hoses were stuck through holes jammed in the firewall. To be fair, tools in '68 were not like we have today. The drain holes were also hammered through the tunnel.

The dash unit was a major pain to get off because the used 1/4" bolts, that barely fit, and with the leakage problem this car had, the nuts had rusted on. The plastic cracked in the corners. If they had used allen or even phillips, there would have been a chance to get a tool in there.

I think I have pretty good pics of the set up. I took them because my friend got this car specifically so he could put the ac in his 1800.

I really don't think any 122s came with true factory air but a lot came with dealer-installed air.
Frigiking was a major provider of those units.
Remember that the 1800 stayed in production through 73 but very few 122s were imported into the US after 1968.

The evaporator looks just like mine and I have a 122s wagon with factory a/c. The rest should be the same as well. I bought a compressor, receiver dryer and condensor from Don Thibauld and it works great and I run r134. It is very cold.
