water leak near heater hose on block 900

My daughter's 94 940 developed a major water leak coming from somewhear near heater hose with trmp valve. I replaced that hose, it was bad. After trying it out, there was still a leak, but not as bad. Do you think she blew a head gasket
or a freeze plug back there. I couldn't see where the leak is coming from due to the intake manifold being in the way. Any ideas?
Thanks. Robbie.

If you dig a little harder behind the manifold and use a good light you may be able to spot the remaining leak. Odds are it's the heater valve itself if you didn't replace it along with the new hose. The next thought would be that the other hoses are brittle and leaking OR that one of the nipples on the heater core has been slightly crushed during hose removal attempts (these stick out one above the other through the firewall) and is not making a good seal with the hose. You should be able to verify this by placing a rag or paper towel at the base of the nipples to catch evidence of leakage at those points. If you suspect the latter, try moving the ring clamps out a further 1/4" or so then tighten firmly.

The leak is not a drip. It drains the radiator in about 5 ninutes. I have tried to see where it's coming from, but like I said. the intake manifold blocks the leak. It is not the heater valve for shre because I had my hand on it & did not get wet. I'm thinking the rear freeze plug or head gasket. I guess I'll take off the manifold & see what I can tell .

If you haven't already done so try looking up from under the car, that's how I located my leak back in there. Turned out it was from the valve itself. I just replaced the valve and both hoses st the same time.
