Defrost switch, rear and mirrors... 200 1993

Hello.

A while back I had the rear glass replaced in my wagon. What fun!

Anyway, it was done by one of those guys that comes to the house and I was busy watching my child and long story short, the first time I need to defrost the rear window I hit the switch and... nothing. It doesn't light up, doesn't give me any sort of resistance. I seem to remember it doing that a bit when it worked. It certainly lit up. The same thing happens with the mirror defroster, too. No light, no resistance.

Now, I might be imagining the resistance, but not the lights, and the rear window definitely isn't defrosting, which can be an annoyance or a hazard depending on what's happening in Southern New England from minute to minute.

Where should I start to look for solutions? I'm not electrically inclined, so I figured I'd ask first before I start poking around. If it matters (I doubt it does), the old window was shattered. Is it coincidence or related (mirrors/window)? The hazard switch, if it matters, works fine.

Thanks in advance for any help, 'Board.

Sure sounds like a blow fuse-- the fact that several systems have gone down together makes it likely-- see if they are on the same circuit.

If there is a bad fuse, replace it and try the systems that didn't work before. If you blow the fuse again, then you need to start looking for shorts. The most likely place is at the rear glass, since that is where things were worked on most recently.

    Good luck!

Thanks. I did check the fuses, but they seemed fine. I'll re-check and commence to poking around in back, as it were.

      cheers,
