Engine disassembly 444-544

Is there a book with step by step instructions on how to disassemble the B-18? I have the green Service Manual but it's not much help. A few years back I pulled the engine out of my '64 lincoln (430 cu.in.) and found a factory manual that guided me step by step through the complete tear down and build up proceedure. My stickng point on the b-18 right now is getting the crankshaft out. I have all the main bolts out and the pistons removed. I have the engine on a floor dolly engine stand. Do I have to remove all the bolts on the flywheel to get the crank out?

Check out Phil Singher's excellent blow by blow on his now sadly no longer extant VClassics Interactive site. There's a whole lot of other useful information in the tech archive.

I thought the engine section of the Green Book for the B18 covered it fairly well. The Haynes manuals for either the 122/1800 or 140 series are pretty thorough too.

You have to remove the flywheel in order to get to the rear seal carrier bolts. The seal carrier has to come off before you can remove the crankshaft.
