I can't fold my third seat back into the floor! 200

Hi Folks,

Forgive me if this has been covered. I did a big search and I can't find any help.

I cannot stow my third seat. I can fold the backrest down and stow the arm rests, but I can't get the seat bottom to release from the latch that holds the rear edge down. So right now it's stuck in the folded position but I can't get it to fold back in the floor. Where is the latch? Thanks.

Paul

What year? If it's 86+, the latch is part of the base of the belt buckles in the middle of the seat, and the long chrome lever that goes to the right side of the car should release it. Push the seat down also pushes on that lever to release the latch.

Here's a picture of the installation instructions for 86+.

I think there are at least two different versions of the 240 third seat. I have one in my 91 that was stuck similar to what you've described a while back. If I remember correctly I was able to fold the back seat forward partially and get at the mechanism from there with a screwdriver to release it - sort of sketchy memory on exactly what was required but seems like once I could see it I was able to release it pretty easily. I think I have a pdf of the installation instructions for the third seat if that helps - if you give me your email address I'll dig it up and forward it to you.
