knock sensor 1990 760 t 700 1990

if the knock sensor was faulty and told the cars system to retard timing ,is it enough of a change to cause a stall at idle and a loss of power at a higher speed. my 760 has been stalling and i get a knock sensor code.

Does your diagnostics system let you run the sensors through a test cycle? Some do. If you run the diagnostics and it fails the knock sensor, then that would most certainly indicate a problem with it.

As is, if you can get hold of one that is known to be good (or new) to swap in and see it improves things, that would be the best bet.

I think, but am not sure, that if the computer senses a failed knock sensor, it will go to full retard (also known as politician mode) to protect the engine. Don't know if it would cause it to run as badly as you describe, though.
