Need 240 Scissors Jacks 200

I need 3 or 4 240 scissors jacks for a project. Does anyone know if the 240 jack is unique to the car or do other models use the same one? Also, does anyone know where I can get 3 to 4 of them at a reasonable price?

There are no pick-and-pulls in my area and the only Volvo dealer we ever had went belly-up more than 35 years ago, so, 240 jacks aren't exactly hanging around here.

Thanks, one and all,

Rich

I've seen a couple at my local JY Need 240 Scissors Jacks 200

I think I can buy a couple at my local JY for you. I've seen them in two 240's and at least one 740.

Give me a budget to work with including shipping these heavy things to you from central Ohio 43054, and I'll see what i can do. Figure three shipping cost scenarios: one jack; two jacks; three jacks.

Even if someone here has them, the shipping would be costly. Do they HAVE to be Volvo jacks, or would any scissors jack do? Try Northern Tool or Harbor Freight if generic scissors jacks are appropriate.

You need Volvo Scissor jacks? You can't hold the car with Jack Stands?

They are an easy find, easy go item.

Easy for recycler to grab and add to scrap pile for their weight guota.

You will have to go to specialized recycler and pay. As he will think you are a restorer/collector dude! Are you?

You will have to go in wearing your dirtest sweat shirt with acid holes and in general, look pitiful! Na..h! Wear a suit and confus'em. Scratch that. They don't get confused! I wonder if a pregnant.....ah....Just Take Money!

The good news I heard that out here on the west coast that steel prices have fell to 4.50 a ton for scrap to Japan. So you can argue that they aren't worth as much to him any more and could he save you some.

LKQ u-picks in Oregon are buying up PIP"s all over the nation. They are 65 lots strong. Since the prices drop they are going to save up cars and rebuild more for sale from their lots.

More twist of competition with us. If we could get cars with the help they get from the (we steal/total it, you buy it) insurance companies.

    Good Luck!

    good luck finding them
740s and older 940s used them
they tend to strip out and need replacing
a recent trip to my u-pull-it found 9 rear-wheel drive volvos and NO jacks
heck i'd be happy with just one jack

      Hi Rich,

The PNPs out here take the jacks out when the cars come in. They don't want any customer using them to crawl under the cars. Surely they don't save them.

I can't be much help to the originator of this thread, other than to say, in my experience, I've never seen a jack with the same method of attachment except on a Volvo. But that doesn't mean much, given my weak Euro car experience.

I had to use my scissor jack for a flat on thanksgiving. Had a piece of metal in the side wall of the tire that looked like a drill bit or strange nail. The spare tire is so tall that the jack nearly didn't work to get the car up high enough. Every time I put that spare on (twice this year) I worry the jacks not tall enough. Anyways, good luck.
