Wow Bill, those are terrific. I'm going to use the first one as the desktop image on my computer.

    Cheers,

1960! Notice how many of the 122s are two-tone paint jobs!
    All of them B16 powered.

Cool. Except of course, one of the shots is a little... errr... misleading. It is entitled "Swedish Volvo cars, on docks", but it's actually a boatload of Saabs (96's, I think). Well, at least they got the Swedish part right. :-)

I may be off my rocker but I think the background of the frist shot has the boat that is in the back of the second shot... Same import yard for Saab and Volvo?

I have a couple of original photos of the Volvo export yard (Hisingen, Gothenburg) and those are up at:
http://www.volvoadventures.com/assemblyplants.html (and see the second row of photos) They have to be from about the same era as the grills are the same and look to be b16 122. There is a single 1800 in the second shot is it would be like 61 or 62. There are several wagon in the second shot as well. Do we know when 122 wagons started being produced?

You may be right... that could definitely be the same ship docked in the background of both (Amazon & Saab) photos. The somewhat different viewing angle makes it hard to tell for sure. Incidentally, those "other" Swedish cars are in fact 96's. I did some research, and while both the 93 and 96 were both produced in 1960, the 96 had a much larger rear glass, evident in the photo.

As for the date of your photos, can be no earlier than 1962 if there is a 220 wagon involved, as I believe those were first produced mid-year of 1962 production. Therefore, I would think the cars in the photo would all most likely all be B18 powered.
