Tranmission challenge for the experts HELP 900

My 92 940 with 65K miles and AW 03-70L trans shifts strangely when hot.

When cold everything is normal. When hot however when you shift from reverse to drive it is a very soft hardly noticable engagement, and seems to partially engage in forward and then after the car moves forward about 6-12" there is a clunk and it is then really engaged. Before the clunk it takes more throttle/power to make the car move like there is something holding the car from rolling. It is almost like a stuck brake but it isn't. I have changed/flushed the fluid and it didn't do anything. Now I don't know if I should clean the valve body or what.

Does this sound like a sticking accumulator piston or brake piston.

Tranmission challenge for the experts HELP 900

I had a 93-945 with the AW-71L, was doing something alike, I flushed the fluid maybe 3 times and put Mobil-1 synthetic, also added a bottle of Lucas transmision fix and added an extra cooler in front of the car, cut the cooling lines that go to the radiator and bypassed it with rubber tranny fluid lines. I got the cooler from a GM suv in the junk yard, they all have it, Chrysler minivans they all have it too. They are also sold in the autoparts but 3 times more expensive.
My car started changing gears much better after that, no more complaints. I don't know if it was the Lucas oil or the cooler fluid since it was all done at the same time. I have used Lucas tranny oil in several very old transmisions and it always worked but a cooler in the front of the car is also very nice.

Thanks for the info. I was going to try the Lucas trans fix but was worried it might be too think. Maybe the Mobil 1 synthetic fluid was more slipper and that solved the problem? I guess I'll try the Lucas trans fix.
