Horn not working but getting voltage there 200 1990

It's not the horns themselves, as I switched out with another 240 I own. Had my son press the steering wheel & it showed voltage at the horn connection (I forget what). Ideas? Thanks.

Horn Technology same throughout early 90's? 200 1990

I own a '93 850glt and a '92 240 - both air bags are removed the same exact method - the 850 is well known for its horn contact failure (red plastic grommets cracking) few months ago the horn failed , tooked it apart and the plastic was fine, reassembled and the horn functioned!

recently the 240's horn stopped working...

Horn Technology same throughout early 90's?

You need to remove the pad at the center of the steering wheel and clean the contacts. If you have an air bag you need to take precautions. Dan

That was one thing I was thinking. Can I just disconnect the battery? Or is there residual charge? How do I do it safely?

Check your Bentley or search the BB.

There should be 12 volts pos. at the horns all the time. The horn button completes the circuit by supplying the ground to the horns.

Try running a ground wire to the neg. side of the horn to see if they work.

I'm having the same problem with my 91. It has an air bag and if I hit it really hard, the horns will honk. Its really frustrating when I'm trying to get someones attention and I have to (get to) beat on the horn to get it to work.

    Just another day in paradise.

The horn buttons work by supplying a ground to the circuit.

Doesn't the connection at the horn show 12v any time the key is on?
