Here are 2 ways to adjust the PNP sensor, in order of preference (accuracy is critical) :
a. Use tool 9995475 and align PNP switch such that the fine line is visible thru the slot in the tool. Then tighten 12mm bolt .(torque specification unknown, but it does not need to be too tight).
b. Turn ignition switch on – but do not start, put transmission in Reverse, , and rotate the PNP switch until the backup lights come on. Rotate switch slowly in either direction until the back up lights go back out and then center the switch. Then tighten 12mm bolt (torque specification unknown, but it does not need to be too tight).
Change the ATF to M1 synthetic ATF or equivalent. At 72K miles you should be just fine. You can use the home flush method to remove about 95% of your atf but it will take allot of atf to change it (anywhere from 12-16 qts.) Or you could just drain your pan every oil change and change out 2-3 qts which is anywhere from 25%(2qts) - 40%(3qts).
I home flushed a 95 960 with 109,000 miles on the original fluid and didn't have a problem. With this mileage I flushed first with cheaper dino atf, then after a few thousand miles I flushed with the good stuff.
