Quick question about magnefine filter 700 1988

1988 760GLE

I am going to be doing the transmission flush per the FAQ in a few weeks. Going to do one drain and fill so as to not shock the system with all new fluid as I'm not sure of the history. I saw the magnefine filters online for 15$ and was thinking about putting one on the ATF return line. I was wondering what size I needed for the steel lines? I did a few searches and found a few 850 topics but wasn't completely sure if the lines were of the same size... Also do you happen to know if the lines will have to be cut?

Thanks, I appreciate the advice,
Darrell

I do not recall the size I installed, but it roughly matched the diameter of the AT cooler tubing. You do have to cut the tubing and install the filter with hose clamps. My 740 NA has the filter up near the radiator; my turbos don't have room there and if I installed the filter in one of them it would likely be down by the bellhousing.
