Brake light woes... 700 1988

Hello Fellow brickboarder's I am in the process of tuning up and fixing some things on an 88 745 NA. I replaced the rear drivers side brake light bulb, but when the pedal is pushed the light wont come on. The other light is working so that rules out the fuse. Could the bulb out relay cause one light to not work, or is it a wiring issue? The owner got a fixit ticket and I just want to fix this up soon. Thanks in advance.
Bret

I believe the brake lights are fused separately.....

Bulb out sensor 700 1988

Yes the Bulb out sensor is in series with each brake light

Its easy to pull it and solder the open connection. See the FAQ

Bill

PS
The right brake socket is white and left is black they are 180 deg out
and if wrong you get the idiot light on the dash and the wrong filaments active.

Make sure the brake lights have the same color holder. Some are white and some black. Swap lights to see what happens.

.... again flying by the seat of my pants...

Isn't that one color on one side for the brake light and another for the other side? At least that is what I remember (?) for the 240 series.

Seat of the pants guess...

Did that 88 700 series car have the brake lights fused individually?

Otherwise work with a test light or meter backwards from the bulb holder. The connector at the taillight itself is always suspect.

Well I guess I be needing that test light now.
