Electric Sunroof Removal with no power? 700

Gonna need some sunroof parts. The local pullapart has some, but no power available. Anyone know if there is a manual crank somewhere under the headliner?
Don't want to tear mine up until I can get a replacement.

The hand crank from a manual sunroof is a direct replacement for the electric motor on a power one, so either take a crank along with you or grab one from another car in the junkyard.

Another possibility to consider is to remove the headliner (backing board and all---just rip it out) from the junkyard car, and then you can easily drop the entire sunroof assembly down and take it out of the car. If the yard's prices are reasonable, just buy the whole thing. Hopefully the car you take the roof from won't be one with a good interior, as it will quickly be ruined by the rain coming in through the hole, and somebody else might want the seats.

I believe that if your remove the cover you will find a big slot on the mechanism that you can use a screwdriver to open or close the sunroof.

If you unscrew the motor cover, there should be a place to use a screwdriver to crank the mechanism like Randy said. I seem to recall reading somewhere that you can fit a manual crank onto the manual adjustment but I'm not sure if there's any truth in that. Might also be an option if you don't want to replace the motor.

Thanks, but my problem is broken brackets, and figure the only place I will find any is a pullapart yard.

Walt,
If the lift and tilt brackets are broken, they are available at the dealer and not too pricey.A bunch of that stuff at the JY is worn or broken. You could check prices online at Tasca Volvo.
