right blinker too fast 700 1991

Just noticed this for the first time on my way into work this morning. The right blinker if flashing twice the normal speed. I checked the bulbs, both front and back come on. Left blinker blinks at normal speed. What should I check for?

You either have a burned out light bulb or

you may have two light bulbs of different manufacturer.

Go with nickel bases if possible and don't buy the cheapest bulbs.

I agree. Check those first. The fact that the turn signals are working means it shouldn't be a fuse/relay issue... If you're not getting the bulb failure light, the only other thing I can think of is possibly the rear bulbs' circuit board... But again, as the signal is blinking twice as fast, it means there's less resistance and not as much power is being consumed by the bulbs since its a redundant system.

I have come across the exact situation....Bought a 1992 960, the left blinker flashed twice as fast as the right...checked all the bulbs,( it's a wagon)...and found that the left front socket was corroded some...cleaned it with a wire brush, put in a new bulb; but still had the same problem...looking at the socket it seemed the contacts weren't seating very well...I bent them some and haven't had a problem since May of '08...

Rileyman, you are right on the money! I too had been experiencing the fast flashing, sometimes on the right, but lately on the left. Sometimes the turn signal actually flashed dimly at the fast rate, other times not at all. Sometimes jiggling a rear socket fixed it, sometimes not. Today I was waiting at a light to turn left and it actually went from fast to normal and then back to fast. So I decided to tackle the left front socket; the hardest one to get at. As you said, the socket was corroded, so I cleaned it out with Scotchbrite, raised the bottom contacts up some and tweaked the outside of the socket with needlenose pliers to grip the bulb tighter. I also cleaned the bulb base and contacts, then greased the socket and bulb with dielectric grease before sticking the socket back in. On the first try, before tweaking the socket, it didn't flash at all after I put it back because the bulb had apparently got dislodged, losing contact. The final time I put it back I had the light flashing in hazard mode to see what was happening. It's also easier to see where you're putting it when it's flashing.

Are you sure all the bulbs are flashing normally? A week ago I noticed the dash indicator for my right signal was doing that, and sure enough, when I checked, the right rear signal light wasn't flashing. I thought this odd that the bulb warning light wasn't telling me anything. Anyway, I found that the rear signal light bulb holder was loose.
