Do I have ATE rear brakes? 200 1989

My order came in today for my rear brake change job. Should have come in last week but they screwed up on my address and after calling UPS then the shipper a few times the address was finally corrected. Grrr. Opened the box and what do I see? ONE rear rotor! WTF? Who changes one rotor at a time? The hardware (pins) is for Girling. It has four pins and wire-like springs. I'm pretty sure these aren't for the rear. Grrrr. Now I'm hoping the set of four rear pads are for my make and year. These are all Volvo brand parts.

Most US 240 have ATE Rear Brakes. The best way to be sure it to pull off a tire and take a look. If you see the tips of the drift pins sticking out at you with one spring in the center of the caliper, you have ATE.

If the pins go from the outside to the inside and are held it will little pins and two springs that clip over the side of the caliper, you have Girlings.

Bet you have ATE back there. And it sounds like you need to have a chat with your parts supplier.

    Regards,

    Paul

The hardware kit they sent you sounds like front girling hardware. Rear brakes are non-vented ATE. In the front earlier years used either vented Girling's or non vented ATE's. A 1989 should have the vented brakes in the front.
