precision auto injectors is selling these 4-hole injectors (for red block engines) on ebay for 75+shipping. has anyone had any experience with these injectors? seems to me these will atomize the fuel better than the original single hole version.

Lots of fuel injectors in todays new engines have multi-hole spray patterns. The 4 hole models you see may or may not atomize fuel better. I work for an engine manufacturer and most injectors have 6 holes of 250 microns each. But, the piston is made to accomodate the spray pattern and since your Volvo piston was designed for whatever it came with you would be taking a pretty big chance with a change. For example, if the 4 hole pattern sprays wide, misses the piston and washes down the cylinder wall with each squirt you will remove lubrication and score the wall, or worse create a galling condition and ruin the block.

Your concerns are noted, but please don't forget that a B230F doesn't have sequential injection (all four injectors fire at once), and they are not shooting directly into the cylinder. The injectors are pointed towards the intake valve from the intake manifold, but they have no direct path into the cylinder.

Due to the above, cylinder wash-down (as you mentioned a very nasty problem) is almost impossible given the injector location and lack of multiport sequential injection.

Ah, I stand corrected. I work with diesel injection all day - direct injection. I forgot to think about my own.

Now then, looking at how the volvo injectors fire above the valves what difference would it make if they have 1 hole or 10? It's just a flood of fuel waiting to be vacuumed into the cylinder. Atomization isn't a reality with this method.

I have no experience with these but just a seat-of-the-pants thought would be that they might clog very easily.
