when referring to a engine control unit what is the w/egr and w/o egr signify??

EGR is a system to reduce NOx emissions by putting exhaust in your intake... "exhaust gas recirculation". I think it was a california only option. And I think it was turbos only. NA cars don't reach the high enough temps to produce NOx I think...

I have never seen a Volvo turbo with EGR, that I am aware of. All are LH 2.4 normally aspirated, at least the Bosch system cars.

my 94 945T and my 95 944T both have EGR.
makes it tricky to work the oil trap.

NA cars originally intended for sale in California were also equipped with EGR systems. I have one.

Exhaust gas recirculation.Not all models have it.If you use an ECU for EGR on a car not so equipped,a CEL will indicate a DTC.:)
