On road emergency - help needed in West Virginia 120-130

A Volvo friend (1966 122 B18), J. DImenna, who posts on the B'board as ESatie is broke down in Martinsburg West Virginia. I just spoke to him on the phone and we were able to determine that his fiber timing gear has failed (no fuel, no distributor rotation, no rocker movement.) He's going to try and get a fiber gear and timing cover gasket overnighted to him from IPD.
IIRC there is a brickboard poster from West Virginia. I can't remember his name. I'm looking to connect him with J so that he can find a mechanic in that locale who could to the timing gear R&R for him. J's handy but not that handy and doesn't have the tools to do this on the road. Anybody know the person I'm looking for in West Viriginia? I'll check back in a couple of hours to see if anyone has come up with a contact. thanks

I found Jmenacker (he actually lives in Martinsburg, W.Va!!) and after a little looking was able to get a phone number which I've left on J's voicemail. Hopefully he'll reach you and you'll be able to point him to the right mechanic who'll be able to replace his timing gear.

I cross-posted this to the 1800 list which has a somewhat different bunch of readers. What was the name of the fellow that had the nice 544 totaled a year or so ago? He commuted from WV to DC, I think.

      Howdy guys,

The stranded 122 owner did get in touch. I gave him the name and number of a very good local mechanic who is intimately familiar with the Volvo B18.

Yes, our 544 was wrecked by a drunk. The sky blue 122 was sold almost a year ago :-(. Unfortunately, most of my roundfender spares went with the car. I just remembered that there is a slightly damaged steel set of timing gears here at the house if your friend needs to get going in a hurry.

On the brighter side I finally found good work within 20 miles of home.

Best regards to all ye Brickboarders.

        Tag, Joe, you're IT!!
Sorry my random access memory didn't drag up your name soon enough but I am very
glad he was able to get in touch with you.
And my congratulations on getting gainful employment closer to home! I drove from PA
down to East Carolina last summer and I can tell you that I would be quite thrilled
NEVER to see I-95 again! What a pain!
Any chance you will be going to Spartanburg in October?

          George:

I was down in Spartansburg, SC a few years ago for a gathering of BMW 635s (1977-1989 2dr coupes). We don't stray too far from home any more. The spring Carlisle, PA import show is close enough for a pilgrimage most years. That and local meets/drives/cruise-ins provide enough auto ogling for us.

The 20 minute commute has been strange and wonderful after eight years of WV to DC. The new job involves working with 3D models for building construction (BIM). Quite a bit of mental dexterity involved. My addled brain frequently gets cramps.

Brickboarders are always welcome to stop by if they are in the neighborhood.

          Best regards,

          Joe Menacker
          Martinsburg, WV
