Transmission issue no first gear 92 964 900

Recently replaced the PNP and changed tranny fluid assuming it would take care of all my transmission issues. The fluid was pretty bad and I still have no first gear. Everything beyond first seems fine. Still getting a 313 (Faulty signal from gear position sensor) and 332 (Solenoid SL open-circuit or control module fault) diagnostic codes.

Questions:

Is this Transmission a goner? Can it be resurrected? Is there still something I can do that clears these codes?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much for the feedback. Hopefully have a little time to replace the SL and get back with the results.

Thinking about this, I remembered that there is a diagnostic program built into the trans computer, you access it thru the DTC reader under the hood. It would take two people but you run this short program with the engine off, an assistant under listens for the clicking of the solenoids. I thing the FAQ has a description on how to get it started.

As DanR said, check the adjustment on the PNP sensor and the wiring connectors. If that's fine, you can change out the SL solenoid yourself by dropping the trans pan. It runs about $125 for the part IIRC.

It the PNP switch adjusted correctly? Do you have reverse lights?

If the PNP switch is positioned correctly then it sounds like you have a bad solenoid, there is info in the FAQ if you feel like changing it your self.

One thing to check first, make sure the plugs are connected correctly and that no pins have been pushed out of position. After changing the PNP switch one could argue that a pin in a connector is not making proper contact.
