I plan to rebuild the suspension on my 95 960, but the dealer parts pricing is way out of proportion.

My mechanic is a master Volvo mechanic, and he suggested buying the parts independantly, but said to be careful because many parts do not fit well, requiring expensive retrofits.

I have two questions:

First, what non volvo parts are best for suspension? I am told that Munro Sensatrac often do not fit well, creating installation issues. What is the wisest course here?

Second, where is the best place to buy, and what should I specify to get OEM Original Volvo parts? FCP Groton, Rock Auto, Swedish Motors, UAP/NAPA,and others have been suggested. I am in Canada, but the dollar is at par.

Ideas appreciated as I plan to buy this week.

Borton Volvo, in Minneapolis has given me good Volvo parts, good service, and excellent pricing. I have a 965 1997, so front suspension work will surely be needed eventually.

They have an internet site, but I've never gotten it to work for me so I call them 800-328-7114. Ask for Jon.

Well, if you have IRS with Nivomat self-adjusting rear shock absorvers they will always be VERY expensive, there's no aftermarket for them (around $250 each side)
You can search for work arounds in this group.

After checking many places and buying from different sources I am stuck now with www.eEuroparts.com, they are easy, fast, serious, good stock and good prices.
Create your account there and you won't need to go anywhere else.
I had a 93-940 and a 92-960, I only have the 960 now.
