16 valve spark plugs 700 1990

The recommended plug for my 8 valve engines are the Bosch WR7DC or equivalent. According to NGK's website, the equivalent is the BR6ES.

The recommended plug for my 16 valve engine is the Bosch WR6DC or equivalent. According to NGK's website, the equivalent is the same BR6ES.

Best guess here is that the NGK website is wrong about the 8 valve, that it should take a BR7ES.

Does that sound right?

NGK recommend that same BPR6ES for B230FT engines which run hotter under boost than a B230F or B234F. In NGK-speak their colder plugs have a higher number so the BPR7ES is a colder plug (as you note). Bosch do it the opposite way, so the WR6DC is their slightly colder plug. But I'd think that if the NGK BPR6ES will suffice for a turbo, it should be plenty "cold" enough for your 4-valve.

Looks like you can't correlate heat ranges across brands. The NGK's may have a wider heat range capability than the Bosch.

    Hey Charles,

I have been running the BPR6ES (resistor) plugs in my B234 and it seems to run well with them. However, it may benefit some to run a slightly hotter plug. I'm not totally sure how the heat ranges vary, so I don't know whether the plug you suggested would be a better match.

    Regards, Jon

I've used the recommended NGK also.
