We have a '67 120 wagon partially (mostly) stripped & have stopped the redo. We have many gaskets, windows, lights, etc. etc. Financially was it worth the time & effort to document & try to sell the parts?
Thanks

To be honest,
No.
It really wasn't worth the stressing. A lot of people have said I wouldn't get what I was asking, and I didn't, but what can I do? I say, hold on to the parts. Like someone said, the parts are useless to buyers unless their parts are broken. Maybe in a few months, when the demand for the parts become higher, list them online.

I'd agree with 67122.
I parted out an 87 745 GLE and only a bare few of the parts went for more than $10.00 each. The issue with the newer cars is that salvage yards flooded the eBay market with their parts. Plus the market for people restoring a 740 is pretty small.
The older car market is similarly saturated with reproductions, new old stock (NOS) and slightly uncommon stuff. You've really got to find just the right person who needs your particular parts
The only stuff that really seems to bring in the money are the parts no longer available (NLA), really expensive reproductions (e.g. dome lights), the really rare stuff, or the popular upgrade parts (overdrive, dual-circuit calipers, etc). Those things tend to shoot all the way up to their retail value and beyond.
Location is the biggest one of all, since shipping glass, bumpers, and bodywork is prohibitively expensive.
I too have a 67 wagon that I've halted work on. The most valuable parts in that car are the parts I took out of a 1971 1800E (fuel injection, dual-circuit brakes, disk-brake-rear-end, 1800E front wheel hubs, and the like).
If you've got the space, just hold onto the stuff until the economy improves and people get back into vintage car restoration.

I'm looking for a known-to-be-OK rear end for my '66.... Happen to have one of them laying around?
The RI chatter is interesting- grew up in Little Compton and Middletown, folks still live in Middletown and thats where I work on my Amazon when it needs it (doing it on the street in NYC is...... not fun). I used to see a dark blue wagon around Aquidneck Island- about the only other Amazon I remember seeing in RI!

LOL!
No, I don't have parts that are that major, just small little things.
Thanks,

REPAIRMAN jack
I used a sawzall to cut the top off the tank, Once I knew it was non flammable,
a sawzall is nice because it doesn't send sparks everywhere. I started cutting at an angle to penetrate the metal. If you cut above the seam it doesn't seem to effect the strength. I then sandblasted the tanks parts, welded in patches, and coated the bottom inside of tank with, US Standard tak sealer. Allowed it ti dry a week or so, I had the big plastic bin, about the same depth as the tank, i put the tank in the bin and filled bin with cold water. I very carefully welded the top back on without getting water in the tank.
It was very frustrating, and it took several days to do it as I could only do small amounts at a time. I put diesel fuel in when I was done and checkecd for leaks by sloshing it around on those seams, Fixed a few spots. seal the weld area with gas resist flexible sealant coated that with JB weld for cosmetic reasons. Painted exterior with the remaining Us tank sealer and voila.
If tanks weren't so expensive, I would have just bought one. But 400.00 for a project car wasn't in the budget. Maybe in the years to come.

Hey I saw your posting and was suprised to hear your were here in RI. I am in warwick and have been working on 65 122, hoping to drive it this summer but- next thing you know summer is almost gone by.
Anyway, I need some rims, door trim pieces, left windowlatch for rear quarter panel window. maybe other parts, I also have parts and access to a parts car, maybe I would have soemthing you would need. I'm not into it for the money>>
I am planning on taking it to owlshead, maine in October for a show, Not planning on showing though, just driving it up there.
Pic of my progress can be seen at myleskemp.com.
Either way i would like to check out your car or cars, I admire the 122 and have been a volvo guy for a while.

Hey, that's a pretty nice photo record! I'm very interested in what you did to your tank. My 68's original fuel tank was dented and clogged up, then when I had that clear, it ceased to suck fuel after 4 gallons.
I pulled it and heard the pickup tube rolling around inside the tank. Your photos show me that the big dent I have in the tank is right where the pickup goes.
No wonder it snapped off!
I'd like to restore the original tank. How did you split the tank into halves without damaging it??

Nice!
I emailed you, I have the rims (only 3) but no trim, or the window latch. From the pictures, I see you have one original rim on there now, right? Anyways, your car cleaned up nice.
If you want you can check out what I have here:

More info is here:

If my transmission holds up a little longer, I'll bring my wagon.
By the way, I watched the video on your site and your car sounds great!
Hope to see you at a show sometime.

67122,
among your parts would you have a passenger side rear reflector housing?.This is the piece just below the rear light, the reflector is not needed.
The housing on my car has rusted and I want to replace it.

Sorry, I don't have one of them anymore. I used to, I don't know what happened to it.
If you do need anything else, I have some parts in an online album if you'd like to check them out and see if you need anything else.

Where might yee be located? This information will help those of us interested judge postal charges required to ship things if we're not in pick-up in person range.
Thanks!

I live in Rhode Island (US) but I can ship out of the country if anyone needs any parts.
