fuel pump / filter 200

Ok, so I shamefully have to admit that I tried to replace my fuel pump and filter, but failed. Miserably. I was completely unable to remove the faulty parts. Worst of all, I think I may have damaged my fuel line on the other side of my filter, opposite the pump (from the tank, right?). While trying to apply torque the stabilizing wrench slipped and I got some petrol on my hands. I didn't just kill my wagon, did I? Can the line be patched or something, or does it need to be (can it be) replaced?

This job is harder than it looks. The only easy way (for me) is to remove the fittings with an air wrench (or a hammer tap on a breaker bar) - you need that quick snap to loosen them. Breaker bars & wrenches and the like by hand tend to strip things.

If you twisted/ broke the plastic line going forward it's not the easiest thing to splice. I've done it but fought w/ leaks forever.

Yeah, I figured I'd have to get a mechanic to work on my car. :(

I wasn't very eloquent in describing wear I had damaged my fuel line, but I suppose if you've done the job before you know of which line I speak. It was the fuel filter inlet side. There should be enough slack to do what ostfront suggested (cutting the boo boo and remounting the hose barb).

There is a rubber hose that goes from tank to back of fuel pump, than can be replaced. The hard plastic line goes from Front of fuel pump banjo bolt towards front of car.I have slipped a piece of fuel line over the broken plastic line and then double hose clamped it.I made sure first that the rubber hose was a tight fit over the plastic line.Make sure not to use vacuum line but fuel line.I think that the banjo fitting is a hose barb.I dont know if there is enought slack to cut the end off and push the banjo hose barb back on.I used the hose over the plastic and it didnt leak and drove it for 2 years that way.It may not be right but it worked.
